Apple Tech Series in Belfast: 5th Feb Apple Store in Belfast looking for people
Feb 01

We’re having our first meeting of 2008 on Monday the 18th of February.

The venue is Windsor Lawn Tennis Club which is located on Windsor Avenue in Belfast. There’s plenty of parking and you enter in through the main doors and come to the downstairs meeting room. It’s quite exposed and not large but we need to get an idea of the numbers before we book the bigger room upstairs. We’ll definitely have tables, WiFi and seats. Mac-Sys did buy a Projector we can borrow as well. The meeting will starts at 7 pm and we’ll aim to finish up at 9 pm. The format is still very fast and loose. We still want volunteers to give demos. The turnout will be the best gauge of success!

Agenda

  • A General Hello
  • MacBook Air: would you buy one?
  • iPhone SDK?
  • DEMO: Using Photoshop to make Comics - by PJHolden
  • Apple Stores in Belfast?
  • Questions? Ideas? Wrap-up

Special thanks to Victor for pushing this through as I’ve been utterly swamped with moving house and don’t even have broadband in the new house. Sadly I’m not going to be able to attend on the 18th but I’m hoping someone will come forward with a demo suggestion!

We’re intending all future meetings to be on the third Monday of every month. All at Windsor Lawn Tennis Club.

Demo Details

PJ Holden has been a professional comic artist for the past 8 years. In that time he has drawn for 2000AD (drawing fan favourite ‘Judge Dredd’ and ‘Rogue Trooper’) for GamesWorkshop (drawing various stories for ‘Warhammer Monthly’) and Image Comics (on the creator owned ‘Fearless’). At the moment he is drawing a completely new series for 2000AD while writing a column for www.2000adreview.co.uk giving artists advice about breaking into the comic book industry. He has lived and worked in Belfast all of his life and has been a Mac user since buying his first Mac (a 12″ powerbook) in 2004. In his other life he’s an IT Supervisor for a major Northern Ireland charity.

Paul will be covering the basics of colouring artwork in Photoshop and is happy to answer any comic book related questions (The Hulk WOULD win in a fight against the Thing.)

    Cool, I’ll be attending too!

I’ve added NIMUG to upcoming and will add events to that group as they are arranged. It’s public so anyone can do it.

Hi folks - new fan here from Derry/Londonderry.
Unlikely I will make this meeting but I wish you well. Can you find out why there are no free hotpots here in the northwest. Will be buying an apple soon. Would be interested in places in ni to buy one. The only place up here is the dreary PC World.
Look forward to hearing from you.
