Theres heaps of ways to use your Mac as a TV. I personally use a SlingPlayer to watch live TV but I have in the past used eyeTV sticks to get live TV and record TV for my kids.
Equinux have their Tubestick which plugs into your Mac and runs with their ‘Tube’ software which recently has gained a new feature.
Placeshifting — Share a digital TV show via iChat. If you’re running Leopard, just drag The Tube icon to an active chat. Your chat buddies can view or record the show, and you can talk about the show while watching it.
Finally - a use-case for iChat theater that isn’t ‘playing battleships on an insanely expensive computer’ and perfect for MST3King episodes of your favourite soaps.
Here’s the link for Equinux

We’re having our May meeting on Monday the 19th.
The venue is Windsor Lawn Tennis Club which is located on Windsor Avenue in Belfast. There’s plenty of parking and you enter in through the main doors and come to the downstairs meeting room. It’s quite exposed and not large but we need to get an idea of the numbers before we book the bigger room upstairs. We’ll definitely have tables, WiFi and seats. Mac-Sys did buy a Projector we can borrow as well. The meeting will starts at 7 pm and we’ll aim to finish up at 9 pm. The format is still very fast and loose. We still want volunteers to give demos. The turnout will be the best gauge of success!
Agenda
- A General Hello
- Demo of Roxio Toast 9 plus a competition
- Macs for Photography - a demo of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom from Ian Moran of Konnexion.
- Xcake - a meeting held on 2nd April about being a Mac programmer
