I’m wondering if anyone has a clever way of getting iSync to work with a Samsung M150 phone? Samsung don’t seem to provide Mac support for this phone. It’s a lovely wee phone and this is my only gripe. Could some other scriot be manipulated to allow me to at least sync iCal calendars.
I have a G5 Dual 1.8Ghz machine running 10.5.8. Recently started giving an issue on start up in that it would get only to a black grey screen after the whirling wheel screen and stall. However, when it does this, I can see it on my network ok and access all drives and folders remotely. After about 15 minutes like this it will pop up to the login in screen and work normally.
I refreshed the system a few weeks ago and things were fine but it’s started again. When I start up in Single User Mode I get the following messages on the command line interface:
From experience the clicking and clattering indicates a physically damaged disk. This can happen quite suddenly without warning, happened to me. Remove the disk from inside the computer & restart. If it starts ok, it may be possible to rescue data buy putting the sick disk in an external enclosure and attaching by USB or FireWire.
Thanks for the input. I know about the problem you experienced. My son didn’t experience the same situation as you. His starts up and runs fine, just the screen kept flashing out and would not display except with it set at unusable angles. It has now gone totally but runs fine, still computes and is usable via a video adapter into his TV. Not great but usable. Looks like a new one will be on a certain teenager’s Santa list!!
My son’s venerable G3 12″ iBook (dual USB model, about 2002 I think) has lately been having an erratic display issue. Basically it flickers on and off randomly and sometimes shuts off totally and won’t display again until restarted. Sometimes will only function at one particular angle of tilt of the lid.
I’m reckoning it’s the inverter or the display itself. Can anyone else comment?
ukipodrepairs is recommended by the AppleStore in Belfast for those sort of repairs. Yours should cost about £60. Alternatively, try ifixit.com and follow the steps to do it yourself.
Well, tried Virtual box. Couldn’t get WinXP to install. It shouldn’t be difficult but several attempts failed so it’s binned. Same applies to Q emulator, couldn’t get WinXP to install. So, if I feel the need for virtualisation for a real purpose I’ll be going for Fusion. At least you have someone to complain to if it don’t work. Open source is a great idea but it has limitations.
